A new initiative aimed at supporting both feline companions and their owners, Ten Lives is proud to announce the launch of the “Meow Meals” Feline Food Assistance Program.
Recognising the challenges faced by individuals and families who struggle to afford basic necessities for their beloved cats, this program aims to provide essential food assistance, enabling cat owners to retain ownership and ensure the wellbeing of their furry friends.
Ten Lives CEO Noel Hunt expressed the organisation’s deep commitment to the welfare of cats and their human companions, stating, “At Ten Lives, we understand the profound bond between cats and their owners. No one should have to face the heartbreaking decision of surrendering their cherished companion due to financial hardships. With the ‘Meow Meals’ program, we aim to alleviate the burden on struggling pet owners and keep cats in loving homes where they belong.”
Ten Lives will offer “Meow Meals” cat food packages to individuals and families experiencing financial constraints.
By providing this vital support, Ten Lives hopes to prevent the heartbreaking scenario of owners having to surrender their cats to shelters due to financial inability to provide food—a situation that not only impacts the owners but also adds strain to already overcrowded shelters.
The program will operate with a focus on accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that those in need can easily access assistance for their feline companions. Ten Lives aims to sustainably maintain and over time expand the Meow Meals program and reach as many households in need as possible.
“We have seen an increase in cats being surrendered due to financial reasons,” Noel said. “Byoffering this essential support through Meow Meals, we are not only safeguarding the well-being of cats but also supporting the mental and emotional health of their owners, who often consider their pets as integral members of their families.”
This program has only been made possible with the amazing support from the community, through the generous donations of cat food we regularly receive.
Because of this we are able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of cats and their devoted owners, ensuring that no pet is left behind due to financial hardships.
In the first month since its launch, Ten Lives’ “Meow Meals” Feline Food Assistance Program has received an outpouring of support from the community and is making a significant impact on both feline companions and their owners with over 250 food packs already distributed.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the program’s success has been the generous donations from individuals and businesses alike. Donations of wet and dry cat food, paper bags, Ziploc bags and financial contributions have been gratefully accepted, ensuring the sustainability and expansion of the program in the future.
Noel expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received. “We are truly humbled by the generosity of our supporters,” he said. “It’s heartwarming to see how the community has rallied behind this initiative, demonstrating their deep compassion for both cats and their owners in times of need.”
The impact of the ‘Meow Meals’ program extends beyond immediate food assistance. Recognising that the financial strain experienced by some recipients may be temporary, there have been heartwarming instances of recipients expressing their gratitude by asking if they can give back once they are able to do so.
This highlights the program’s role not only in providing essential support but also in fostering a sense of community and mutual assistance among those involved.
Ten Lives is committed to sustaining and expanding the reach of the program, with the aim that fewer cats are surrendered due to financial hardships. Through ongoing community support and
collaboration, Ten Lives aims to make a lasting difference in the lives of cats and their families.
“Every donation, no matter how large or small, will make a difference in the lives of these cats and their families,” Noel said.
