If there is ever a compelling reason to microchip your cat then this is it.

For most of the lost cats that arrive at Ten Lives Cat Centre it is a difficult task finding their rightful owners.

However, when a friendly tabby girl arrived at the Centre last week, this was not the case.

When the intake team waved the microchip scanner over the base of her head, much to their delight a beep was heard…

… her name was Bailey.

Her owner details were found, owner called, and within 3 hours they were on their way to pick up their furry friend.

But here is the thing…

Bailey had gone missing over a year ago!

Bailey’s family had given up hope of ever seeing her again so her reunion was an emotional one.

She had been bottle fed since she was 2 weeks old and her cat-sister pined for her after her disappearance.

She was found on the other side of the Derwent River over 3 suburbs away.

Who knows what Bailey’s adventures entailed, but all we can say is that we are very happy she is back home where she should be.

Since her reunion, she has settled back into the home and the family she loves sent us this message.

“She is just the same affectionate loving cat she was (although she certainly has some battle scars and I’m sure quite a story to tell) she is ok around her sister who we still have and ok with our other cat whom we had before she left. Although they are wary of her. Our girls were overjoyed to see her.”

Fortunately, Bailey’s family had her microchipped and kept their contact details up to date. Is your cat’s microchip details up-to-date? Maybe now is a good time to check!
