Introducing Gertrude! Gertrude is sweet and very loving girl. She is shy at first but is very brave and trusting of humans, is very affectionate once comfortable in an environment. Loves meeting new people for cuddles! Her favourite place is tucked under the covers of a warm cosy bed! She would love a home with someone who is there for pats and head rubs. Prefers the quiet but also enjoys being part of the group and comes for an explore when people are around. She is the sweetest soul and is just after love Gertrude would love to be an only cat so she can soak up all the attention and be with her people as much as possible. She is not suitable to a home with other cats. Gertrude has a low grade heart murmur, the murmur has been assessed by our vets as mild and is currently asymptomatic. We recommend regular monitoring of the murmur by your veterinarian. Gertrude also has luxating patellas, a condition in which the knee-cap (patella) temporarily dislocates or moves out of its normal position. There are no other abnormalities detected with the joints, and the cat is currently asymptomatic ie the condition is not causing any pain or lameness. There is no need for treatment at this stage, however luxating patellas can mean they are more prone to developing arthritis. We recommend yearly vet checks at your regular vet to monitor the condition. Gertrude has had dental surgery due to Grade 3-5 dental disease on arrival at the Centre. The teeth have been cleaned and removed as required. With an appropriate diet and ongoing good health it is possible they will not require further dental treatment but monitoring of dental health by a vet annually is recommended. Gertrude is desexed, microchipped and toilet trained. Vaccinations, flea and worm treatments are up to date.
