Introducing Gertrude! Gertrude is a very sweet and loving girl. She is shy at first but once she feels comfortable in her new environment, she is very affectionate and snuggly. Gertrude would love a quiet home with someone who is happy to supply endless pats and head rubs. Her favourite place is tucked under the covers of a warm cosy bed. If you have room in your house and heart for a sweet soul who is just after some love, Gertrude is the cat for you! Gertrude would prefer to be an only cat so she can have all the attention for herself. She is not suitable to a home with other cats. Gertrude has a low grade heart murmur, the murmur has been assessed by our vets as mild and is currently asymptomatic. We recommend regular monitoring of the murmur by your veterinarian. Gertrude also has luxating patellas, a condition in which the knee-cap (patella) temporarily dislocates or moves out of its normal position. There are no other abnormalities detected with the joints, and she is currently asymptomatic, i.e. the condition is not causing any pain or lameness. There is no need for treatment at this stage, however luxating patellas can mean they are more prone to developing arthritis. We recommend yearly vet checks at your regular vet to monitor the condition. Gertrude has had dental surgery due to Grade 3-5 dental disease on arrival at the Centre. The teeth have been cleaned and removed as required. With an appropriate diet and ongoing good health it is possible she will not require further dental treatment but monitoring of dental health by a vet annually is recommended. Gertrude is desexed, microchipped and toilet trained. Vaccinations, flea and worm treatments are up to date.
