Meet Ivan! Ivan is a handsome 13½-year-old gentleman who is searching for a peaceful retirement home where he can enjoy life's simple pleasures. With his calm nature and independent spirit, Ivan is the perfect companion for someone who appreciates the quiet comfort of sharing their home with a cat without needing constant attention. Ivan is wonderfully self-sufficient and excels at keeping himself entertained. He enjoys a predictable, low-key lifestyle and would much rather spend his days relaxing in a calm environment than navigating the hustle and bustle of a busy household. While he's not overly demanding, he enjoys being near his people and will happily share gentle moments of affection on his own terms. This distinguished senior is very much a "four paws on the floor" kind of cat. Ivan isn't interested in being picked up or sitting on laps, preferring instead to show his affection through quiet companionship and simply being in the same room as those he trusts. His presence is comforting, steady, and wonderfully undemanding. Ivan is overweight. We are managing his weight loss with controlled amounts of Senior food 5/8 of a cup (=1/4 cup AM and 1/3 cup PM). We recommended continuing with this in their new home until they reach their ideal weight. Due to being overweight and senior we recommend providing Ivan with extra-large litter trays, for ease of use. He also has a strong preference for soft substrate such as paper litter and like most cats, is very fastidious (clean) and may toilet outside the tray if it has already been used. By providing Ivan with 2 litter trays we prevented any toileting outside of the tray. Ivan has had cat flu during his time in our care. Cat flu is common and many cats have had it at some stage in their life. Ivan has had dental surgery due to Grade 3-5 dental disease on arrival at the Centre. The teeth have been cleaned and removed as required. Ivan would thrive with working professionals, retirees, or anyone looking for a dignified, low-maintenance friend. He's a sweet senior boy who deserves a loving forever home where he can enjoy his golden years surrounded by kindness, comfort, and respect. Vaccinations, flea and worm treatments are up to date.
