Roni Couldn’t See. Foster Care Helped Her Heal.

When Roni arrived at Ten Lives at three months old, she was sick with the flu and had severely small, underdeveloped, inflamed eyes. She couldn’t see at all.

Roni was placed into foster care while she recovered from the flu, giving her a safe, quiet place to heal before beginning her eye treatment. Despite everything she was going through, she was affectionate, outgoing and incredibly brave.

Her foster home gave her the space and care she needed.

Over the following weeks, Roni had three eye surgeries to help her see. Her foster carer helping her through recovery each time. And through it all, Roni remained the same bubbly, cuddly kitten. She purred, played and rolled onto her back for tummy rubs.

Soon, she was up for adoption, and was found by someone who fell in love with her and adopted her.

Roni’s story shows just how much foster care can change a cat’s life.

We’re looking for foster carers who have the space and ability to care for cats like Roni. People who can take care of cats with cat flu or ringworm, experienced carers who can provide the specialised care needed by neonatal kittens, and households with no other pets.
